COLOUR THEORY - DESIGN PRINCIPLES

We was all asked to collect 5 items of each of the following colours...
RED, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, ORANGE AND PURPLE
We then discussed all the different elements of colour theory and had to group all the smae colours together into a massive colour wheel.

WE CREATED A COLOUR WHEEL AROUND THE CLASS THAT WENT FROM RED TO ORANGE THEN YELLOW, GREEN BLUE PURPLE THEN PINK.

From this we could see how colours can merge, which are contrasted and which work well together. I feel that i have learned a lot from this.
So I then decided to look at colour wheels in history and how they have been developed.

Here you can clearly see how different shads of a primary colour looks:

From this we then had select one primary colour and match the pantone colour to the colour of an object. This was quite difficult as the objects we selected varied only slightly and we had to get an exact match.

We then placed the objects from light to dark and we looked at how the shade and tone differs within one primary colour. The use of this task was very important as it visual informed me of how many different types of pantone colours are available.

From the task we then had to select pantone colours that we found and appreciated. Here are the pantone and the codes for the colours i liked:

Here is some more research i undertook of the colour wheel. I find the colour wheel really well designed as it communicates so much information.

After looking at the old traditional ways of documenting colour i decided to look at the modern interpretation.
These designs below communicate gradient // shade and tonal features within colour and are merged together in an aesthetically pleasing way.

I found these images on the internet and they relate to bold and bright modern colour blends:

The use of creating new shapes in modern day colour wheels is quite unique in some aspects. Each shape hold the main primary and secondary colours. I feel that these design look extremely modern.
